每当捧读这篇千古华章，我仿佛穿越时空的隧道，置身于那个风云际会、诗意盎然的时代，与王勃一同感受着人生的跌宕起伏，体悟着历史的沧桑变迁。

初读《滕王阁序》，首先被其华丽典雅、精妙绝伦的语言所震撼。

“落霞与孤鹜齐飞，秋水共长天一色”，仅仅十四字，便勾勒出一幅动静结合、色彩斑斓的绝美秋景图。

晚霞如锦，孤鹜展翅，水天相接，浑然一体，让人不禁为大自然的壮丽与和谐所折服。

时维九月，序属三秋。潦水尽而寒潭清，烟光凝而暮山紫。俨骖騑于上路，访风景于崇阿；临帝子之长洲，得天人之旧馆。层峦耸翠，上出重霄；飞阁流丹，下临无地。鹤汀凫渚，穷岛屿之萦回；桂殿兰宫，即冈峦之体势。

打开精美的阁门，俯瞰雕饰的屋脊，辽阔的山原尽收眼底，迂回的河流湖泊使人惊讶。房屋遍地，都是鸣钟列鼎而食的富贵人家；船只停满渡口，都是装饰着青雀黄龙的豪华船只。云消雨散，阳光普照，天空明朗。落霞与孤鹜一齐飞翔，秋水与长天连成一片。傍晚的渔船上传来歌声，声音响彻鄱阳湖畔；排成行列的大雁被寒气惊扰，叫声消失在衡阳的水边。

远望的胸怀顿时舒畅，飘逸的兴致油然而生。箫声悠扬，仿佛清风徐来；柔美的歌声缭绕，仿佛白云停飞。今日的盛会，好比梁孝王睢园的竹林的聚会，酒兴超过了陶渊明；又好比曹植邺下的荷花池的吟咏，文采辉映着谢灵运。良辰、美景、赏心、乐事，四美俱全；贤主、嘉宾，两种难得的人物同时出现。放眼远望长空，在这闲暇的日子里尽情游乐。天高地远，觉得宇宙无穷无尽；兴致已尽，悲从中来，认识到盛衰自有定数。遥望长安在夕阳之下，指点吴会在云海之间。地势倾斜，直到南海之深；天柱高耸，直指北极之星。关山难以越过，有谁同情失意之人？萍水相逢，都是他乡之客。怀念朝廷而不能相见，什么时候才能像贾谊那样被召见于宣室？

唉！时运不济，命运多舛。冯唐容易衰老，李广难以封侯。使贾谊屈居长沙，并非没有圣明的君主；使梁鸿逃隐海滨，难道不在清明的时代？所可仗恃的是君子能见微知著，达人能安命。年纪老了应当更加豪壮，怎能改变白发之人的心志？境遇穷困应当更加坚强，不能失去青云直上的志向。即使喝了贪泉的水，也觉得清爽；即使处于干涸的车辙中，也依然欢乐。北海虽远，乘着旋风可以到达；早晨虽已过去，日暮仍为时不晚。孟尝品行高洁，空有报国之志；阮籍放荡不羁，怎能效法他无路可走的哭泣！

我王勃，身份卑微，不过一介书生。没有门路请缨报国，只能像终军那样在年轻时投笔从戎；羡慕宗悫乘风破浪的远大抱负。宁愿舍弃一生的功名富贵，到万里之外去侍奉父亲。我虽不是谢玄那样的好子弟，却也愿与贤德之人交往。过些日子将到父亲身边，聆听教诲；今天有幸参加宴会，喜登龙门。如果碰不到杨得意那样的人，只能抚凌云之赋而自惜；既然遇见了钟子期那样的知音，奏流水之曲又有什么惭愧？

唉！美好的地方不能常存，盛大的宴会难以再逢。兰亭的盛会已成过去，梓泽名园也变为废墟。临别之际赠言，在这盛大的饯别宴会上承蒙主人恩宠；登高而作赋，希望在座诸公施展才华。请允许我冒昧地尽情表达心意，恭敬地写下这篇短序；我的一首四韵小诗已经写成。请各位像潘岳、陆机那样，展现江海般的才华吧：

This is the old Yùzhāng Commandery of the Han, now the seat of the Governor-General of Hóngzhōu.

Its place in the heavens lies within the lunar lodges Wings (Yì) and Chariot (Zhěn),

3. 地上的位置连结着衡山和庐山。

on earth it links Mount Héng and Mount Lú.

4. 以三江为衣襟，以五湖为衣带，

It takes the Three Rivers as its lapels and the Five Lakes as its girdle;

5. 控制着楚地，连接着闽越。

it controls the lands of Chǔ and joins the regions of Mǐn and Yuè.

6. 这里物产的华美，有如天降之宝，

The splendour of its products is like treasures sent down from Heaven,

7. 其光彩上冲牛、斗二星之域；

their radiance rises all the way to the constellations Ox and Dipper.

8. 这里人才俊杰，皆因大地之灵秀，

Its men of worth and genius owe their brilliance to the spirit of this soil;

9. 徐孺子竟然能在太守陈蕃家中下榻。

witness Xú Rúzǐ, who was given a place in Prefect Chén Fān’s own home.

10. 雄伟的州城像雾一样涌起，

The mighty walled city looms like rising mist;

11. 有才能的人士像繁星一样飞驰。

men of talent dart across it like a galaxy of stars.

12. 城池坐落在荆楚和扬州接壤的地方，

The city stands where Jīng-Chǔ meets the Yangzhou region;

13. 宾客和主人都是东南一带的俊杰。

both host and guests are the finest minds of the southeast.

14. 有崇高声望的都督阎公，从远方赶来；

From afar comes Governor-General Yán, whose fame is lofty;

15. 有美好品德的宇文刺史，车驾在此暂停。

Prefect Yǔwén, a paragon of excellence, pauses here with his retinue.

16. 正逢十日休假，才华出众的朋友多得像云；

On this ten-day official rest, gifted friends gather like drifting clouds;

17. 迎接千里而来的客人，尊贵的朋友坐满宴席。

we welcome travellers from a thousand miles away; every seat is filled with honoured guests.

18. 文才如蛟龙腾空、凤凰飞起，那是词章的宗师孟学士；

Among them is Academician Mèng, whose dragon-soaring, phoenix-rising prose is the master model of letters;

19. 宝剑如紫电、清霜，那是王将军的武库。

and General Wáng, whose swords gleam like violet lightning and autumn frost.

20. 家父在远方做县令，我因探父路过这个有名的地方；

My own father serves as a county magistrate far away; I was passing this celebrated place to visit him;

21. 年幼无知，竟有幸参加这盛大的宴会。

young and unlearned as I am, I have been granted the undeserved fortune of attending this splendid feast.

The season is now the ninth month, the depth of late autumn.

2. 地面的积水已经消尽，寒冷的潭水清澈见底，

The puddles on the ground have dried away; the cold ponds are so clear one can see their bottoms.

3. 天空的烟光与夜晚的雾气凝结，傍晚的山峦呈现出紫色。

Misty light from the sky blends with the night vapors, and the evening hills take on a violet hue.

4. 在山路上驾着马车，到高高的山陵寻访风景；

Along mountain roads we drive our carriages, seeking scenery among the lofty heights;

5. 来到昔日滕王建阁的长洲，得以登上这座高耸的楼阁。

we arrive at the long islet where Prince Teng once built his tower, and we climb that soaring pavilion.

6. 重叠的峰峦耸起一片苍翠，上达九霄；

Layer upon layer of peaks lift up a mass of blue-green, piercing the ninth heaven;

7. 凌空架起的阁道，涂饰着鲜红的色彩，从高处往下看，好像看不见地面。

Gallery bridges hang in mid-air, painted vivid red; looking down from their height, the earth seems to vanish.

8. 仙鹤和野鸭栖息的水边平地与沙洲，极尽岛屿曲折回环之致；

Sandbars and islets where cranes and wild ducks rest wind in every intricate curve;

9. 用桂木和兰木建成的宫殿，随着冈峦高低起伏的态势。

Palaces of cassia and orchid wood follow the rise and fall of the ridges.

10. 打开精美的阁门，俯瞰雕饰的屋脊，

We fling open the tower’s jeweled doors and gaze down upon carved roof ridges;

11. 辽阔的山原尽收眼底，迂回的河流湖泊使人惊讶。

Vast plains of hill and field fill our eyes; winding streams and lakes astonish the beholder.

12. 房屋遍地，都是鸣钟列鼎而食的富贵人家；

Houses cover the ground: every one a mansion where bells are sounded and tripods set for feasts.

13. 船只停满渡口，都是装饰着青雀黄龙的豪华船只。

Vessels crowd the harbors—splendid barges painted with blue sparrows and yellow dragons.

14. 云消雨散，阳光普照，天空明朗。

The clouds disperse, the rain is gone; sunlight floods the bright and open sky.

15. 落霞与孤鹜一齐飞翔，秋水与长天连成一片。

Sinking rosy clouds and a lone wild duck fly side by side; autumn water merges with the endless sky.

16. 傍晚的渔船上传来歌声，声音响彻鄱阳湖畔；

From fishing boats at dusk come songs whose sound rolls far across the shores of Lake Poyang;

17. 排成行列的大雁被寒气惊扰，叫声消失在衡阳的水边。

Lines of wild geese, startled by the chill, cry out until their voices fade beyond the waters of Hengyang.

18. 远望的胸怀顿时舒畅，飘逸的兴致油然而生。

Hearts broaden at the distant view; buoyant feelings rise within us.

19. 箫声悠扬，仿佛清风徐来；

The notes of flutes float lingeringly, as though a gentle breeze were arriving;

20. 柔美的歌声缭绕，仿佛白云停飞。

soft songs wind about, as though white clouds had paused in flight.

21. 今日的盛会，好比梁孝王睢园的竹林的聚会，酒兴超过了陶渊明；

Today’s gathering rivals the bamboo-grove feasts of Prince Xiao of Liang; our wine-joy surpasses even Tao Yuanming’s.

22. 又好比曹植邺下的荷花池的吟咏，文采辉映着谢灵运。

It recalls Cao Zhi’s lotus-pool verses at Ye, whose brilliance outshone Xie Lingyun.

23. 良辰、美景、赏心、乐事，四美俱全；

Fine season, lovely scene, delighted hearts, joyous affairs—the four perfections are all complete;

24. 贤主、嘉宾，两种难得的人物同时出现。

worthy host and honoured guests, the two rarities, are here at once.

25. 放眼远望长空，在这闲暇的日子里尽情游乐。

We lift our eyes to the far sky and give ourselves wholly to pleasure on this free day.

26. 天高地远，觉得宇宙无穷无尽；

Heaven is high, the earth remote; we feel the boundlessness of the universe.

27. 兴致已尽，悲从中来，认识到盛衰自有定数。

But when joy reaches its height, sorrow follows; we realize that rise and fall are fixed by fate.

28. 遥望长安在夕阳之下，指点吴会在云海之间。

Gazing toward Chang’an beneath the setting sun, we point out Wu and Yue amid seas of cloud.

29. 地势倾斜，直到南海之深；

The land slopes southward to the depths of the Southern Sea;

30. 天柱高耸，直指北极之星。

the Pillar of Heaven towers up, aimed straight at the Pole Star.

31. 关山难越，有谁同情失意之人？

Passes and mountains are hard to cross—who will pity the frustrated man?

32. 萍水相逢，都是他乡之客。

Meeting like drifting duckweed, we are all strangers far from home.

33. 怀念朝廷而不能相见，什么时候才能像贾谊那样被召见于宣室？

Longing for the imperial court yet unable to enter, when shall I be summoned to the Xuan Chamber like Jia Yi?

34. 唉！时运不济，命运多舛。

Alas! The times are out of joint, destiny is full of twists.

35. 冯唐容易衰老，李广难封。

Feng Tang grows old too soon, Li Guang wins no noble rank.

36. 使贾谊屈居长沙，并非没有圣明的君主；

Jia Yi was banished to Changsha—yet it was not for lack of a sage ruler;

37. 使梁鸿逃隐海滨，难道不在清明的时代？

Liang Hong fled to the seashore—did he not live in an enlightened age?

38. 所可仗恃的是君子能见微知著，达人能安命。

What we can rely on is that the gentleman sees the seed of events, the wise man accepts his fate.

39. 年纪老了应当更加豪壮，怎能改变白发之人的心志？

Though our hair turns white, we should grow even more vigorous—how could we let age alter our resolve?

40. 境遇穷困应当更加坚强，不能失去青云直上的志向。

In hardship we must be firmer still, never losing the will to soar straight up to the blue clouds.

41. 即使喝了贪泉的水，也觉得清爽；

Even if we drink from the Spring of Greed, we can still feel refreshed;

42. 即使处于干涸的车辙中，也依然欢乐。

even if we lie stranded in a dry rut, we can still find joy.

43. 北海虽远，乘着旋风可以到达；

Though the Northern Sea is distant, a whirlwind could carry us there;

Ruan Ji roamed wildly—how could we imitate his weeping when the road ran out?

I, Wang Bo, am of lowly station, a mere student.

48. 没有门路请缨报国，只能像终军那样在年轻时投笔从戎；

With no way to request a cord for the frontier, I can only follow Zhong Jun in casting aside my brush at twenty;

49. 羡慕宗悫乘风破浪的远大抱负。

I envy Zong Que’s grand resolve to ride the wind and cleave the waves.

50. 宁愿舍弃一生的功名富贵，到万里之外去侍奉父亲。

I would rather abandon a lifetime’s fame and fortune and journey ten thousand li to attend my father.

51. 我虽不是谢玄那样的好子弟，却也愿与贤德之人交往。

Though I am no scion like Xie Xuan, I still seek the company of the virtuous.

52. 过些日子将到父亲身边，聆听教诲；

In a few days I shall stand before my father and receive his instruction;

53. 今天有幸参加宴会，喜登龙门。

today, by rare fortune, I join this banquet and joyfully mount the Dragon Gate.

54. 如果碰不到杨得意那样的人，只能抚凌云之赋而自惜；

Had I not met a patron like Yang Deyi, I could only caress my “Soaring Clouds” rhapsody and lament;

55. 既然遇见了钟子期那样的知音，奏流水之曲又有什么惭愧？

but now that I have found a Zhong Ziqi who truly understands, why should I feel shame in playing the “Flowing Water” tune?

56. 唉！美好的地方不能常存，盛大的宴会难以再逢。

Alas! Lovely places do not endure; grand feasts seldom recur.

57. 兰亭的盛会已成过去，梓泽名园也变为废墟。

The gathering at Orchid Pavilion is long gone; the famed gardens of Zize are now mounds of ruin.

58. 临别之际赠言，在这盛大的饯别宴会上承蒙主人恩宠；

At this parting I offer these words, grateful for the host’s kindness at this magnificent farewell.

59. 登高而作赋，希望在座诸公施展才华。

Climbing high, I compose this rhapsody, hoping all present will display their talents.

60. 请允许我冒昧地尽情表达心意，恭敬地写下这篇短序；

Allow me, presumptuous though it be, to pour out my heart and respectfully set down this brief preface;

Leisurely clouds cast shadows on the pool that glide without a care;

69. 阁中的滕王如今在哪里？

And where now is Prince Teng, who once graced this lofty hall?

70. 栏杆外只有长江空自奔流。

Beyond the balustrade the Long River flows on, empty and alone.
